Spring and fall are ideal times to visit Portugal, bypassing summer crowds and heat while enjoying mild, sunny weather perfect for beachgoing and sightseeing. Late March-June and September-October have lower hotel rates and thinner tourist numbers. July-August can be hot,  especially inland. Winters are mild in the south but wetter up north.
