Hungary tantalizes visitors with thermal spas, artists’ colonies, and the imposing Buda Castle lording over the Danube. Arriving in Budapest feels like uncovering a hidden gem, as the grand capital boasts beautiful bridges, riverside promenades, and Art Nouveau coffeehouses. Beyond  Budapest, folk villages like Hollokő transport you back in time with their traditional embroidery and costumes. Pastel-hued country homes with gingerbread trim populate charming towns like Szentendre. Cellars carved into volcanic rock stand ready with bottles of velvety Tokaj wine. The thermal waters of Lake Hévíz promise rejuvenation while the  Puszta’sgrazing horses evoke Hungary’s nomadic past.

Spring and fall are ideal times to visit Hungary when the weather is mild and tourist numbers are manageable. Late March to mid-June and  September to October have comfortable temperatures for exploring, though summer is popular too. Winters are cold but bring fewer visitors, and  Christmas markets run from late November through December.
